The Graduate ELL & ITA Program offers courses in three concentrations, during both the Fall and Spring semesters:

Academic Communication and Presentation Concentration

The courses offered in this concentration serve to enhance communicative competence for academic contexts with an emphasis on developing a range of academic speaking and listening skills and oral communication strategies for academic communication tasks. Academic Integrated Skills (ITAs) Concentration

The courses offered in this concentration serve International Teaching Assistants (ITAs) and the broader graduate student population. The courses offered in this concentration serve to develop and enhance integrated academic and professional strategies and skills in order to successfully engage in graduate-level academic coursework, research, and professional tasks relevant to their discipline. Academic Reading, Writing, and Research Concentration

The courses offered in this concentration introduce students to the conventions of graduate-level academic writing in English. The courses are intended to enhance linguistic competence in English along with graduate students’ ability to write, read, conceptualize, and frame complex arguments for discipline-specific and multidisciplinary audiences. This concentration offers courses that are appropriate for multiple levels of linguistic proficiency. Read Course Descriptions
