Academic Communication and Presentation Concentration

The courses offered in this concentration serve to enhance communicative competence for academic contexts with an emphasis on developing a range of academic speaking and listening skills and oral communication strategies for academic communication tasks. The concentration offers courses that are appropriate for multiple levels of linguistic proficiency.

Graduate ELL Academic Communications, 16:356:580 (3 "E" credits)

Serves matriculated Graduate students who are speakers of other languages and who place in an A2 proficiency level. The course serves to develop overall communicative competence with an emphasis on clear pronunciation, presenting academic speaking and listening strategies. The course also provides an introduction of the varying range of communication conventions in the English language.

 

Graduate ELL Academic Communications and Presentations, 16:356:581 (3 "E" credits)

Serves matriculated Graduate students who are speakers of other languages and who place in a B1 or B2 proficiency level. The course serves to enhance communicative competence for academic contexts with an emphasis on developing a range of academic speaking and listening skills, and oral communication strategies for academic presentational tasks.

 

Graduate ELL Academic Presentations and Research, 16:356:582 (3 "E" credits)

Serves matriculated Graduate students who are speakers of other languages and who place in a C1 proficiency level. The course serves to provide communicative-competence for academic contexts with an emphasis on developing a range of academic speaking and listening skills, and oral communication strategies for academic presentational tasks.
