Barbara Inerfeld is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Graduate ELL & ITA Program in the Writing Program at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Barbara is currently serving as a peer-to-peer mentor in the Rutgers Connection Network Mentoring Program (NCNMP). Her interests focus on World English and transnational communication, the use of media in sociolinguistics, speech pathology and language acquisition. She began her teaching career in New York City as an ESL High School teacher. She holds an M.A. from New York University and a B.A. from Queens College/CUNY, at which she taught for more than two decades. She has also taught in PALS-New Brunswick for over 25 and served as International Student Advisor (PDSO).
Barbara is a reviewer of ELL textbooks for Pearson/Longman Education: University Success series. She also reviews for Cambridge University Press: Final Draft, Oxford University Press: Elements of Success, Cengage Publishers, and is a proposal reviewer for TESOL International. Barbara has presented at TESOL International, NJTESOL/NJ BE, Mid-Atlantic ITA Association, and numerous workshops. She has also collaborated and edited the Commission on English Language Accreditation Report (CEA).
