Simon Wickhamsmith is currently an instructor for the Graduate English Language Learners Program and the Undergraduate Writing Program in the Rutgers University Department of English. He received a PhD from the University of Washington, with a dissertation on the representation of nomadic culture in modern Mongolian literature. He has been teaching for the Writing Program at Rutgers since 2014, and Tibetan, Manchu and Mongolian for the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures since 2015. His translation of Ts.Oidov's "The End of the Dark Era" was awarded a PEN/Heim Translation Fund grant in 2015, and was shortlisted for the National Translation Award in 2017. He is currently completing a monograph, "Politics and Literature in Mongolia, 1921-1948" for the University of Amsterdam Press.
