Shareyna James is a lecturer in the Graduate ELL & ITA Program, and in previous semesters has taught courses in the Undergraduate Writing Program of the Department of English. Her teaching philosophy is centered on helping students to develop their skills in critical thinking, effective communication and academic writing. Mrs. James is currently teaching a Business English course for graduate students in the field of Mathematical Finance. Concurrent with her work at the Graduate ELL & ITA Program, Mrs. James works as a Program Specialist in the University Relations unit of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a professional organization focused on advancing educational and technical opportunities within the fields of engineering sciences, research, and technology. In this role, she supports over 100,000 students globally by developing and supporting student-related initiatives and volunteer committees. She received a Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a focus on Writing and African, African American and Caribbean studies from William Paterson University.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. James is committed to creating professional networks to empower and support women of color through programs focused on mentorship, leadership, community engagement and scholarship. She is alos the owner and lead consultant of Shareyna Nicole Consulting, LLC which assists professionals with a wide variety of services ranging from educational coaching, career services, writing, editing, proofreading, resume writing, proposal drafting, interview skills, mentoring, business incorporation, grant writing, and a host of others. Previously, Shareyna was nominated for the Leader in Mentorship Award hosted by The BOSS Network and presented by Prudential. This prestigious nomination highlighted influential women of color who inspired other women by sharing their strategies and journey to success. She has won a host of other awards for her leadership and community involvment. Mrs. James is the author of her first self-published book, The Test of a Woman - a book that is focused on women's emotional healing and building a healthier lifestyle.
